Remnant Recovery believes that alcoholism as well as addiction is a family disease. We operate unapologetically out of the core tenants of the 12 steps that were directly taken from scripture and adapted to help addicts and alcoholics the world over. I once heard it said that AA was the on-ramp to a healthy relationship with God. We believe that the issues within the family system have to be addressed at the same time as the individual receives treatment. If not, there is a high likelihood that a homeostatic reset is inevitable. In other words, the addict might get well but the family neglected to do any of “their work” while they were in treatment. Because of this, the family will revert to its old patterns of behavior and the addict or alcoholic will likely relapse within a short period of time.
